Dominican Republic and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and North Ireland Yesterday they signed a cooperation agreement on security and risk management, which further strengthens the bonds of friendship between the two nations.
In a first phase, the agreement, which was signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Alvarez and the ambassador of the United Kingdom, mockbul alithe Dominican government will acquire four helicopters that will allow the Armed Forces to have aerial surveillance.

“It will make it possible to carry out search and rescue tasks, cargo transport and forest fire mitigation. This tool contributes to the mitigation policy promoted by the government,” said Álvarez.
He stated that this agreement strengthens the links between both nations and recalled that the United Kingdom was the first to recognize the independence and sovereignty of the Dominican people in 1844.
“Since then, we have laid the foundations for permanent communication,” he said.
For his part, the ambassador of the United Kingdom thanked the signing of the contract, and indicated that “today we take a giant step”, after assessing the years of relations between both countries.
“Among many other areas this agreement between the Dominican Republic and the United Kingdom will transform the DR for disaster relief projects,” Ali said.
