The Municipal Board of Asunción approved a new loan of US$ 80 million (G. 565 billion). The request was from Óscar “Nenecho” Rodríguez, mayor of the commune as part of an “Administrative Reorganization Plan”.
Álvaro Grau, councilor of Asunción for the Patria Querida party (PPQ), reported that the municipal debt is almost 1 billion guaraníes (US$ 145 million).
“More loans without a cost-cutting plan is a mockery of all Asuncion. The financial situation of the municipality is increasingly sunken”, questioned the mayor.
The money will be used to pay the maturity of debts contracted in previous years that cannot be paid at present.
