Cortizo returns to the country after participating in the Summit on Climate Change, in Glasgow

The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo returned to the country this Wednesday afternoon, after participating in the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP26), in the United Kingdom, in Glasgow, Scotland.

After participating as a speaker at the Cannign House with the conference “Panama: Gateway to Latin America”, present in the plenary of the Summit the opportunity to share with the world the important goals that Panama has achieved as a country and sign with Colombia, Costa Rica and Ecuador the declaration for the Conservation and Management of Ecosystems the president arrived at the Tocumenen International Airport in the company of the First Lady Yazmin Colón de Cortizo.

During his participation in COP26, Cortizo Cohen was also accompanied by the official delegation made up of Chancellor Erika Mouynes, the Minister of the Environment, Concepción, and the Ambassador of Panama in England Natalia Royo.

The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, was an honorary witness to the signing ceremony of the “Declaration of Carbon Negative Countries” by the foreign ministers of Panama, Bhutan and Suriname, who requested “a greater effort and global ambition to achieve the commitments made in the Paris Agreement.

On Tuesday, November 2, he held a bilateral meeting with the president of Argentina Alberto Fernández, to reinforce the mechanisms of political dialogue, cooperation and trade promotion and he participated in the commitment made by more than 100 countries to end deforestation by 2030 .

Cortizo Cohen greeted in Glasgow the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada and Guillermo Lasso, President of the Republic of Ecuador, among other leaders who met at the most big event of this nature in the last two years.

The president will lead this Thursday, November 4, the protocol acts of the Day of National Symbols in the Presidential Palace from 7:00 a.m.
