MIAMI, United States. — Correos de Cuba reported this Tuesday on the shortage of stamps on the island, widely used by the population to carry out different types of procedures.

According to one note published by that entity, “in recent days there has been a deficit of stamps for procedures in the Cuban Post Offices due to the increase in the carrying out of procedures by the citizens and state entities of the country.”

The statement adds that “this unforeseen situation has caused an increase in demand and, consequently, an impact on that service.”

The information specifies that both the Tax Administration Office (ONAT) and the Correos de Cuba Business Group (GECC) try to maintain sales of all denominations of stamp stamps, for which “existing reserves in the different territories are recirculated , in order to guarantee a balance between them”.

The note adds that “this week there is a new printing of stamps that will be circulating for sale” and that “both entities maintain constant monitoring of the service.”

To avoid the hoarding of stamps, Correos de Cuba has arranged the regulation of their sales.

“In this sense, the sales limit allowed per person will be up to three units of stamps of the denominations of 10.00, 20.00, 40.00, 50.00, 125.00, 500.00 and 1000.00 CUP pesos. For stamps of 5.00 pesos, the limit allowed per person will be five units.

The statement also highlights that “in the month of December the printing of another seven million stamps will begin, in order to stabilize the sale in all the units of Correos de Cuba, with priority in the main post offices of each municipality ”.

Stamps are essential for carrying out notarial procedures, as well as for obtaining birth certificates, issuing passports, among others.
