Coronavirus in Uruguay: 14 deaths, 8,819 new cases and 160 patients in ICU

Uruguay registered this Thursday 8,819 new cases of coronavirus on a total of 22,827 tests, reported the National Emergency System (Sinae). The positivity rate was 38.6%, although duplicate tests are also included in some people (antigen and PCR).

What’s more, there were 14 deaths in the last 24 hours of patients with covid-19, who were between 65 and 99 years old. Since the health emergency was declared on March 13, 2020, there have been 6,710 deaths diagnosed with the disease in Uruguay.

There are 57,843 active cases across the country and 160 people are in intensive care centers, according to the official report. Of the total positive cases, 785 correspond to the health personnel.

Of the 8,819 new cases, 4,079 are from Montevideo, 1,410 from Canelones, 382 from Paysandú, 304 from Maldonado, 272 from Tacuarembó, 261 from Colonia, 241 from San José, 207 from Cerro Largo, 206 from Soriano, 190 from Lavalleja, 185 from Florida, 170 from Rocha, 166 from Treinta y Tres, 149 from Durazno, 147 from Salto, 139 from Rivera, 134 from Artigas, 117 from Río Negro and 60 from Flores.

All departments report infected people this Thursday and Montevideo leads in number of assets with 27,588. follow him cannelloni (8,489), Maldonado (2,445) and Paysandu (1971), among others.

For the report of the day, the Ministry of Public Health reported that removed seven cases from the active list.
