The Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) of Cuba reported that until midnight on Friday, April 8, 11,291 samples were analyzed, and that 609 of them were positive for the SARS-Cov-2 virus.
The most recent part of the institution states that there were no deaths related to the COVID-19so the number of deaths from this cause, since the start of the pandemic, remained at 8,517. This represents a fatality rate of 0.78%.

Currently, 7,026 people are admitted, of which 4,241 are suspected of having contracted the new coronavirus, another 33 under epidemiological surveillance, while those confirmed active now stand at 2,752.
This report specifies that 592 of the new infections were contacts of confirmed cases, 7 recently arrived in the country already sick, and that the source of infection of another 10 patients is being sought.
The source indicates that of the new positive cases, 335 are women and 274 men, and that 22 of them did not present symptoms of the disease at the time of their diagnosis.
In terms of age, 216 are under 20 years old, 134 are in the range of 20 to 39 years old, another 107 are between 40 and 59 years old and 152 are over 60 years old.
According to the report, no province in the country reported more than 100 cases on the day, 12 were below 50 infections, and the most affected territories were Camagüey (88), Mayabeque (86) and Ciegos de Ávila (81).
According to the MINSAP report, the 2 evacuees and the 57 returned to their countries remain, and 702 medical discharges were granted.
In the intensive care units, 28 patients are cared for, 8 of them in critical condition and 20 reported as serious.
