The Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) reported of 22 new coronavirus infections on the island after the analysis of more than 3,000 samples this Friday, a day in which no deaths or patients in intensive care rooms were reported.
A total of 22 positives were reported this Saturday, bringing the number of confirmed diagnoses in the country to one million 105 thousand 709 since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. However, Cuba maintains its good indicators of recovered patients (99.2%) in said period.
Precisely, at the close of this Friday, June 17, March, there were 29 medical discharges and they already total one million 097 thousand 051.
On the other hand, the island’s health authorities assured that there are 90 confirmed active cases (all with stable evolution). In total, there are 832 patients admitted in Cuba, while 698 suspects are cared for in health institutions and 44 are under surveillance through the Primary Care system.

The MINSAP part details that, of the 22 cases, 16 are autochthonous (two without a specified source of infection) and six are imported. A total of 14 positives (63.6%) were contacts of confirmed patients.
Regarding the distribution by provinces, Havana reported six infections, Holguín three, two in Mayabeque, Cienfuegos, Villa Clara, Camagüey and Isla de la Juventud, and one per capita in Artemisa, Matanzas and Sancti Spíritus.
According to the MINSAP report, 31.8% (seven) of the 22 cases were asymptomatic. Since the start of the pandemic in Cuba, 147,020 patients without symptoms have been identified as positive, which represents 13.3% of all those infected.
According to official data, the most affected age group on Saturday was that of those under 20 years of age and those between 20 and 39, with eight cases each. For their part, the groups of 40-59 and over 60 confirmed three.
According to official sources, 13,934,357 diagnostic tests have already been carried out in Cuba. This Friday, 3,453 samples were analyzed in all the country’s laboratories.
