Coronavirus in Cuba: 129 infections and 102 discharges on Thursday

Cuba identified 129 infections of the SARS-CoV-2 virus on Thursday, a day in which 102 discharges were reported according to the part that publishes the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).

1925 samples were processed and, of the positive ones, 94 correspond to contacts of confirmed cases while in three individuals the virus had been imported. 32 added the patients in whom the cause of the infection was not specified.

The largest number of infections were recorded by the provinces Holguín and Santiago de Cuba, which again exceeded twenty with 25 and 22 cases, respectively. They are followed by Sacti Spíritus (15), Ciego de Ávila (10) and Las Tunas (10).

Meanwhile, Pinar del Río and the Isla de la Juventud Special Municipality were free of new patients.

In total, 738 people remained hospitalized due to COVID-19; of these, 490 were confirmed active cases. Both figures are higher than those reported the previous day.

The intensive care rooms closed with 10 patients reported in serious condition.

By age ranges, infections continue to predominate in those under 20 years of age, with 64 cases. In addition, 26 corresponded to the range between 20 and 39 years old, 21 to 40 to 59 years old and 18 were over 60.

The fatalities of COVID-19 total 8,529 since no deaths were reported this day in Cuba either, where the lethality is 0.77%.
