Thanks to the analysis of the 2,505 samples, collected until midnight on Wednesday, August 17, the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) of Cuba was able to identify 103 new cases of COVID-19.

582 people are admitted, of them 214 suspected of having contracted the SARS-Cov-2 virus, while 368 confirmed active were reported.
57 women and 46 men were diagnosed, and of the total cases, 74 were contacts of confirmed cases; one with a foreign source of infection and 28 without a specified source of infection.
Regarding ages, the report indicates that 68 of the new patients are under 20 years old, 20 are in the range of 20 to 39 years old, another four are between 40 and 59 years old, and 11 are over 60 years old.
Except for the Special Municipality of Isla de la Juventud, all provinces reported infections, with Holguin (35) as the main source of infection. Of the rest, only Granma (12) exceeded ten cases.
The Minsap also reported that the 2 evacuated at the beginning of the pandemic and the 57 returned to their countries remain, while 85 medical discharges were granted on the day. In turn, it notified four patients in intensive care units, two of them reported in serious condition.
