Nezahualcóyotl. The head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, warned that the consultation to revoke the mandate must be done because it is the will of the people of Mexico and therefore six of the advisers of the National Electoral Institute (INE) cannot violate the democracy of our country.

Later, on her social networks, the president delved into the fact that some INE advisers suspend the revocation of the mandate on the pretext that there are no resources. I respectfully invite you to prioritize the best interests of protecting democracy and the Constitution. It would be enough to implement a republican austerity policy, he claimed.

Yesterday, the president visited the municipality of Nezahualcóyotl as a special guest of the protest of the elected mayor Adolfo Cerqueda Rebollo.

In front of some 10,000 people, he spoke about metropolitan coordination, the transformation led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the crisis that is being experienced at the INE.

Today not only electoral democracy is launched, but also participatory democracy and therefore there cannot be six electoral councilors who want to violate the democracy of our country, he expressed.

For this reason, he continued, The revocation of the mandate is because it is the will of the people of Mexico and of the millions of signatures that were delivered to the INE.

Sheinbaum harangued a Long live democracy!, as he argued that it is built by everyone, every day, and is the essence of the transformation project.

As an example, he said that the people are not repressed and freedom of expression is celebrated to its fullest. He highlighted López Obrador’s initiative to defend natural resources as assets of the nation.

Today we live in a historical moment, essential in public life. We have a president who in three years has changed the history of our country with a way of governing that not only broke with the old model, but is also building a model of moral economy.

Sheinbaum recalled that in the transformation project of the Mexican government, the pension for the elderly and for high school students is universal. She highlighted other programs and in her case, as the capital’s president, not only are the actions replicated, there is also a metropolitan vision to solve the problems jointly.

He congratulated the elected mayor Adolfo Cerqueda Rebollo, who will become, as of January 1, 2022, the first municipal president born in this town and the first mayor to openly declare his homosexuality.

The event was attended by Mario Delgado, the national leader of Morena; Porfirio Muñoz Ledo, senators, local deputies, councilors of the eastern zone of Mexico and the mayor of Iztapalapa, Claudia Brugada.
