The resigning congressmen from the Free Peru bloc have announced the formation of a new parliamentary group called Peru Bicentennial. This includes legislators José Balcázar, Jorge Marticorena, Víctor Cutipa, Elías Varas, Jorge Coayla.
“The five of us have agreed on our work, on our ideals and on our principles. Obviously, we are going to go out to defend the interests of Peruvians as we have been doing on various issues (…) and taking the problems of Peruvians to the Executive”, said Congressman Marticorena Mendoza at a press conference.
“We are going to follow that path to sustain this state that we live in as a democracy. We cannot put at risk the responsibility that Peru has given us to solve the big problems. Enough of absurd confrontation (…). We are going to defend the university reform, the interests of small businessmen, of informal mining”, he added.
