Congressional workers received a bonus of S/20 thousand with the approval of Alejandro Soto

Congressional workers received a bonus of S/20 thousand with the approval of Alejandro Soto

It is easy to be generous with other people’s money. And that is the case of the legislator from Alliance for Progress, Alejandro Sotounder whose management as president the Congress of the Republic The collective agreement with the Congressional Workers Union of the Republic was signed—in November 2023—which, among other points, contemplates the payment of bonuses in the amount of S/20 thousand for each of the Parliament’s employees.

Since the aforementioned agreement applies for the 2024-25 period, in January of last year the workers received a first payment of 20 thousand soles. A few days ago another disbursement was made to them for the same amount.

“This bonus responds to a collective agreement that was signed two years ago. This is the second year that this bonus has been paid as a result of a collective agreement that was agreed two years ago with the Workers’ Union,” said the first vice president of the Legislature. , Patricia Juárez. She did not give names, but the truth is that it was in the management of the Board of Directors chaired by the APEPist Alejandro Soto – which also included Hernando Guerra García, Waldemar Cerrón and Rosselli Amuruz – that The onerous list of demands from the union led by Tulio Vizcarra was accepted. The document, to which he had access. Peru21even bears the signature of Soto, who has not commented on the matter

Yes, Tulio Vizcarra has done it instead. “The agreement is in accordance with the law, the population has always been misdirected by the press, which has to know that the Congress worker, like any other entity, negotiates its specifications every two years,” he responded to criticism, and even wanted to present as a gesture of selflessness the fact that they are not paid overtime as, he says, is done in other public institutions.

At least that’s what the press declares. The truth is that in point thirteenth, the agreement specifies that there will be compensation for extraordinary work carried out outside of working hours due to the need for service.

In this context, it is maintained that Congress “will recognize the days or hours worked outside the ordinary working day by parliamentary service personnel duly authorized by Senior Management to work outside the working day due to the need for service.”

Not only that. Among the benefits approved for workers, the annual clothing allowance in the amount of 200 soles is also contemplated for active personnel in the month of March of each year. This amount, it is noted, will be delivered by credit to a bank account for the acquisition of clothing and “the allocation does not replace the clothing or work clothes that Congress grants for the development of certain specific tasks.”

Likewise, an increase of 200 soles, without remuneration, is granted as an extraordinary monthly bonus to all personnel who have exceeded three months uninterruptedly and who have prepared during the entire month. The Christmas bonus will also have an increase in value by S/200. All this with money from all Peruvians. One more fact that contributes to the discredit of the Congress of the Republic and that justifies, by far, that 88% of citizen disapproval that this State power registers in the last national survey carried out by Ipsos for Peru21.
