Congress of Mayors resolved an extension for free re-registration until December 30

The Congress of Mayors met in the city of Florida, within the framework of the celebrations of the anniversary of Independence that will take place next Thursday, August 25.

The plenary received the Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining, Eng. Omar Paganini, to learn about the green hydrogen route. The hierarch stressed that Uruguay has ideal conditions to advance on this issue and take a significant leap in the development of green hydrogen and its derivatives.

For Paganini “green hydrogen will be a very important energy source in the world, and Uruguay can be a pioneer since it has a renewable energy matrix and legal conditions to be a recipient of investments in this matter.” In his presentation, he indicated that “it is necessary to follow a roadmap, develop some pilot projects to learn and attract investment.”

On the other hand, a report from the SUCIVE monitoring commission was presented and it was unanimously resolved to grant an extension of the free re-registration benefit until December 30, 2022, with the aim that owners can regularize the situation of their vehicles. .

During the session, the need to expand the offices of the Congress of Mayors was raised, strengthening its institutional presence. To fulfill this purpose, the table was ordered to advance in the corresponding administrative procedures to specify a building solution.

In the afternoon, the Decentralization Sector Commission approved projects of the Interior Development Fund Program for more than $254,000,000 and extensions for more than $2,480,000. New projects of the Productive Rural Roads program were also approved for $133,507,675. These funds seek to promote the decentralization and development of the territories throughout the country.

The next congress of mayors will take place in Artigas during the month of September, within the framework of the celebrations for the 170 years of the city.
