The plenary session of the Congress of the Republic approved by insistence, with 72 votes in favor, 39 against and 4 abstentions, the opinion —observed by President Pedro Castillo— that weakens the Sunedu and modifies the composition of its board of directors, reducing its autonomy.
The political extremes united once again to promote the disputed opinion. The support of the Popular Force, Free Peru, Magisterial Bloc, Popular Renovation benches were key to achieving the approval of the questioned norm.
The benches that voted mostly against were Avanza País (with the exception of Juan Burgos), Alianza para el Progreso (with the exception of Gladyz Echaíz), Perú Democrático and Perú Bicentenario. In the Popular Action case, eight voted in favor and three against —four of the six involved in the ‘Los Niños’ case voted in favor—.
