The National Confederation of Private Business Institutions (trust) met with the President of the Republic, Dina Boluartein order to address issues of national interest such as economic recovery and ways to promote social peace.
Among the topics discussed, special emphasis was placed on the recovery of social peace and the image of the country for the tourism sector. The president of the aforementioned union, Óscar Caipo, proposed concrete actions in favor of the most vulnerable economic sectors affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the recent nationwide protests.
“From the private sector we have recognized that we can do more and support a lot in the economic reactivation. We have committed the 22 unions that are part [de Confiep]”Caipo said at the end of the meeting to the media, according to Andina.
“The idea here is to be able to work together. We all have the same objectives, we all want our families to get ahead, we all want Peru to progress and the only way to do it is to work together, to be united, not to have more polarization.”he added.
Caipo acknowledged that there are legitimate claims on the part of the protesters because the State has not attended to them “for decades”, problems that “will hardly be resolved in a few months.”
“We can begin to recover trust and restore hope to the population, but for this we need social peace, political stability, recover trust and unite, all Peruvians, the public sector, businessmen, civil society in Lima, in the regions, work together. workers, employers, to be able to move the country forward “he pointed.
The members of the business union considered that the Peruvian economy could grow 4% as long as the violence ceases and confidence in public institutions increases.
