The president of the National Supply Company (Conab), Guilherme Ribeiro, commented, during an interview with the program The Voice of Brazilyou results released by the company last Wednesday (9). The balance estimates that the 2022/2023 grain crop should reach a production of 313 million tons, almost 42 million tons more than in the previous crop.
According to Ribeiro, the increase was basically influenced by the growth of the planted area. “It is good for us to remember that we are having a recovery in productivity mainly in the southern states and also in Mato Grosso do Sul”, he added.
The president of Conab commented on the production of soy, whose estimate is around 153.5 million tons. He explained the preference of farmers for this grain due to the greater profitability that soy is giving to farmers. “This encourages them to change their culture and look for soy at this time”
According to Guilherme Ribeiro, the advance of soybeans took place in degraded areas previously used for grazing. The culture grew mainly in the states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul.
