Competition takes 1,800 cyclists to the streets of Rio

About 1,800 cyclists participate this morning (26) in L’Étape Rio, a competition that takes place in Rio de Janeiro with the seal of the traditional Tour de France cycling competition. Competitors compete in stretches of 46 and 102 kilometers that run through tourist attractions and routes cycled by Olympic athletes at the 2016 Games. The race is scheduled to start at 6:00 am, at Marina da Glória and its route will go through Aterro do Flamengo towards the shore, also passing through the beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon.

The route continues towards the Botanical Garden, from where you will start to climb the Tijuca Forest through Vista Chinesa. Competitors in the longest race will still need to make the way back, facing a total change in altitude that exceeds 1,000 meters. The awarding of the winners is scheduled for 13:00

The first edition of L’Étape Brasil Santander by Tour de France was in 2015, in the city of Cunha (SP). Since 2018, the race has been held in Campos do Jordão (SP), and last year it also arrived in Rio de Janeiro.

The eighth edition of the race in the interior of São Paulo will be held between the 23rd and 25th of September, in Campos do Jordão (SP).
