The Río Negro community in the Machiques de Perijá municipality asks the authorities at all levels to focus on helping them with roads, since it is practically the only way to get out. Neighbors warn that there are cancer patients and pregnant women who are at risk if the matter is not taken action. In addition, other similar complications have occurred on Troncal 6, which is the Machiques-Colón highway.
More than 200 families from the Rio Negro parish, in the Machiques de Perijá municipality in the state of Zulia, have been cut off since Monday, October 31, after a complete section of the road, which connects them with Trunk 6 of the state highway, gave way. due to lack of maintenance and heavy rainfall.
The inhabitants of the area warn that this community, like a significant number of farms, have no way to move or sell various agricultural products that are harvested there and distributed throughout the national territory.
“There is no passage for vehicles. You can only leave on motorcycles on alternate routes. We demand that the municipal government, the Government of Zulia and the national government focus on solving this great problem that has left us incommunicado. At this time, no emergency that may occur in this town can be attended to,” a local resident, identified as José Romero, told the portal. Radio Faith and Joy.
Similarly, they indicated that, according to the opinion of various farm engineers, the work to recover the road was not easy at all because the ground was undermined many meters deep and required extensive work to repair it.
Another neighbor, Betty González, said that there are people living there who are cancer patients, pregnant women who will have a cesarean section and others who have participated in blood transfusions. So far, Mayor Vidal Prieto -of the Unión y Progreso party- has not commented on the matter.
The faults in Trunk 6, on the Machiques-Colón highway, had already been evident days before. Images were disseminated on social networks in which a large sinking in the pavement is recorded, in another sector, which made the road impassable and yet, it is observed that a tanker truck sought a way to pass.
