Community in Machiques de Perijá in Zulia was isolated after giving up the road

The Río Negro community in the Machiques de Perijá municipality asks the authorities at all levels to focus on helping them with roads, since it is practically the only way to get out. Neighbors warn that there are cancer patients and pregnant women who are at risk if the matter is not taken action. In addition, other similar complications have occurred on Troncal 6, which is the Machiques-Colón highway.


More than 200 families from the Rio Negro parish, in the Machiques de Perijá municipality in the state of Zulia, have been cut off since Monday, October 31, after a complete section of the road, which connects them with Trunk 6 of the state highway, gave way. due to lack of maintenance and heavy rainfall.

The inhabitants of the area warn that this community, like a significant number of farms, have no way to move or sell various agricultural products that are harvested there and distributed throughout the national territory.

“There is no passage for vehicles. You can only leave on motorcycles on alternate routes. We demand that the municipal government, the Government of Zulia and the national government focus on solving this great problem that has left us incommunicado. At this time, no emergency that may occur in this town can be attended to,” a local resident, identified as José Romero, told the portal. Radio Faith and Joy.

Similarly, they indicated that, according to the opinion of various farm engineers, the work to recover the road was not easy at all because the ground was undermined many meters deep and required extensive work to repair it.

Another neighbor, Betty González, said that there are people living there who are cancer patients, pregnant women who will have a cesarean section and others who have participated in blood transfusions. So far, Mayor Vidal Prieto -of the Unión y Progreso party- has not commented on the matter.

The faults in Trunk 6, on the Machiques-Colón highway, had already been evident days before. Images were disseminated on social networks in which a large sinking in the pavement is recorded, in another sector, which made the road impassable and yet, it is observed that a tanker truck sought a way to pass.

The mayor of the Rosario de Perijá municipality, Ely Ramón Atencio, assured that the situation will be dealt with soon in that section, he refers Last News.

Another section of the road, close to Cerro Mirador, also cracked the pavement in such a way that it is dangerous to go through there.

It is in this sector where the mayor of the Jesús María Semprún municipality, Wuyhsmans Gonzalez, appeared to take action and recover the damaged road. In his social networks he said that he works together with the communities, the private company and the National Armed Forces to recover the land and that section of Trunk 6.

In the morning hours of Thursday October 27 It was reported that a vehicle fell into a “megahole” on 16 Guajira Avenue in the city of Maracaibo, Zulia state. The car, a Mitsubushi Lancer, entered the opening in the road head-on.

The journalist Lenín Danieri indicated via Twitter that the residents of the area have been taking photos of the hole that formed in the road for at least six months and that in that time it has “swallowed” three other cars. He described that officials from various instances have come to the area, take photos and leave without any repair work.
