DEPARTMENTAL COLOGNE PCU
Cologne, August 13, 2022.
Gathered the Department of the Communist Party of Cologne, in its session called “Esteban Chito Benedetto”, in commemoration of his birth on August 7 where he would be 91 years old, we remember the endearing comrade who left many teachings in his career for our Communist Party, to the Broad Front and the organizations where he militated.
After an analysis of the international, regional, national and departmental situation, he expresses:
1) It is vital to search for the path to peace through agreements between Russia and Ukraine, and in the more than 10 armed conflicts that are taking place in the world. We salute the democratic processes and the advances towards this path that Colombia has achieved, coming to power for the first time a leftist government.
2) On the 96th anniversary of the birth of Fidel Castro, a great protagonist of the history and politics of the 20th century, father of the Cuban Revolution; We reaffirm our solidarity with the Cubans who are being punished not only for the policies of the unjust blockade for 60 years, but also for the fire that kept the island on edge for five days.
3) The presence of more of the Partido and Frente Amplio in the neighborhoods of our department, in close proximity to our neighbors, is extremely important. We are experiencing a stage of setbacks and cuts with the actions carried out by the government at the national and departmental levels where inequalities are accentuated.
4) We must deepen the debate from our Advanced Democracy Caucus-1001 and develop policy proposals that provide real solutions to existing inequalities. The departmental government must address issues related to the creation of jobs, gender policies, social policies, waste classification and collection, health, tourism, transportation, housing.
5) Given the provocation by some political actors of the National Party, more precisely from the 904 list, we support the work and the responsible denunciation that our Advanced Democracy Bench-1001 has been carrying out, which has worked together with the Broad Front Bench on issues of utmost importance. Due to such facts, the actions of the PN have been exposed, which does not respect the function of comptroller of the opposition and has ignored the Constitution of the Republic on several occasions in its actions.
6) This August 14, the day of the Student Martyrs, we join the call and the struggle of the entire student movement, claims that are still valid today, for more budget for public education, research and innovation. This Rendering of Accounts reveals that education is not a priority for this government, giving zero budget to the University of the Republic. We call to participate in the calls of the student and popular movement in the city of Rosario and the central march in the country’s capital.
7) Looking ahead to August 25, Day of the Base Committee, an important instance for the members of the Front, where we reaffirm our commitment to the community, to the construction of a better department, of a reality where all of us are heard and build the future with respect and companionship.
8) To greet, this August 25, the 67th anniversary of the Communist Youth of Uruguay, youth that organizes, forms, discusses and projects, enhancing our Communist Party of Uruguay. Greetings to the young people of the UJC in Cologne in particular.
We will continue to build a political force that resolves the enormous inequalities that exist, close to social organizations, the working class and the people in general, we live in an extremely rich department in all its extension, full of possibilities and opportunities, in the one we see only benefit a few.
