Communist Party denounces Ecarri’s “infamy”: We will not make “alliances with the right”

The general secretary of the PCV, Oscar Figuera, denied that his party had agreed to join the new opposition alliance that Antonio Ecarri said he was forming with Alianza del Lápiz, Cambiemos and Avanzada Progresista

The general secretary of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), Oscar Figuera, responded via Twitter to the statements made by Antonio Ecarri during a meeting he held in Spain with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country, José Manuel Albares, in which they are preparing the launch of a new political alliance in July called the Independent Pact for Popular Change for which, according to the newspaper The country“the incorporation of the Communist Party of Venezuela has been negotiated.”

Figuera wrote: «We inform public opinion that the PCV has not ‘negotiated’ with anyone its participation in the so-called «Independent Pact for Popular Change». This is not the orientation of the alliance that the PCV promotes».

The communist leader added that: “We have talked with various factors, including Ecarri, about the national catastrophe, the result of the capitalist crisis, aggravated by the criminal unilateral coercive measures and the disastrous management of Maduro. However, the PCV has not committed to being part of that alliance.

In a journalistic note published regarding Ecarri’s visit to Spain, it is reported that the leader of Alianza del Lápiz, along with Timoteo Zambrano from Cambienos and Luis Augusto Romero from Avanzada Progresista, promulgates a new political alliance called the Independent Pact for Change Popular. «We are forming it with people who come from both poles. We want to make the country plural, that there are not only two blocks. The country must be depolarized. It is the only way out of the crisis in which we are immersed,” he told the newspaper The country.

From the PCV, however, they mark distance. «In the face of this new infamy, the PCV confirms that it will not make alliances with the right. It will be the XVI National Conference, convened by the Central Committee for this year 2023, which will decide the presidential candidacy that the Venezuelan communists will support,” his secretary general wrote on Twitter.

Figuera recalled that the PCV is part of the Popular Revolutionary Alternative (APR) that groups dissidents from the ruling party who have also been stripped of electoral cards, as a fraction of the PPT and also of Tupamaro. «The PCV continues to work, together with the @APR_Venezuela and other social and political factors, to build an alternative that regroups the popular revolutionary and grassroots currents, and confronts the elite pact between the Government-PSUV and the right-wing oppositions”.
