Today we lost a giant: In all aspects of audiovisual, Jô Soares was omnipresent.
A multifaceted artist who was part of our daily lives, the routine of all Brazilians who were looking for fun, information or just being in the presence of the ”fat”, as he called himself.
The legacy is as huge as the man Jô Soares, so we have access to all of his work forever.
They say jinn are immortal, and I believe it.
To start with my tips today, I suggest a dive into Jô’s extensive universe. He acted in more than twenty national films, such as the 1959 classic, The Sputnik Manthe hilarious movie Saturday from 1994, The Adventures of Agamemnon the Reporter, from 2011 and his last feature in 2017: Lygia, A Brazilian Writer.
From TV Brasil to the big screen
Now for kids of all ages, the tip is the animated film Beyond Legend.
The feature film was born from a television series shown on TV Brazilmuch loved by the public and which had thirteen episodes.
In an accessible and fun way, Beyond Legend – The Movie makes children aware of the importance of national legends. The plot involves a sacred book, which brings together all the stories of national folklore, and is hidden in a mountain. It is only revealed, once a year, on the day of Saci, October 31st. However, a trio that symbolizes Halloween come to Brazil on that date, and, received as celebrities, they intend to steal the book and dominate our legends.
A curiosity: Beyond Legend – The Movie, directed by the duo Marília Mafé and Marcos França, is the first animation produced in Pernambuco; Another special and innovative detail is that Além da Lenda is a multiplatform project. In addition to the film’s premiere, a game inspired by the work will be released.
Romantic Comedy on TV Brazil
THE TV Brazil shows the national feature film Insomnia. A unique chance to see this romantic comedy that features Claúdia, a 15-year-old teenager who lost her mother when she was just 5 years old and from then on lives with her father.
To to have to deal with the dilemmas of youth, she finds herself confused and lost when her 28-year-old best friend starts dating her father.
Based on the homonymous book by Marcelo Carneiro da Cunha, the feature film is sensitive and a good choice for this weekend.

Bullet Train – Super production with Brad Pitt
After a long career as a stuntman, director David Leitch has successfully transitioned into directing action films such as John Wick Deadpool 2 and Hobbs & Shaw.
Now he returns with the long Bullet trainan adventure starring Brad Pitt.
Let’s get to the plot: the story is simple, and it features Pitt as a mercenary who is hired to steal a suitcase inside the bullet train that crosses Japan. What he didn’t expect is that the suitcase is in the possession of two hitmen (Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Brian Tyree Henry) tasked with returning it, at the end of the journey, to the biggest boss of the Japanese mafia, a violent and mysterious figure whose story connects with that of the other supporting characters on board.
The film is now showing in all Brazilian cinemas.
