The Dane reported this Tuesday, February 15, that during 2021, the Colombian economy grew 10.6%, a figure that is in line with the market outlook and the projections made by the National Government.
Is about the highest number in the history of the country and a strong rebound after the 2020 contraction as a result of the covid-19 pandemic.
In the presentation of the report, the Dane also revised down the growth of the economy in 2019 and 2020, after the implementation of a new economic monitoring methodology used under statistical parameters of OECD countries.
Under this new criterion, in 2019the growth of the economy would have increased 3.2%, while during the 2020 the Colombian economy contracted 7.0% and not 6.8% as reported.
FOURTH QUARTER GROWTH
According to Dane, for the fourth quarter of 2021 (October, November and December), the Colombian economy grew 10.8%.
For this period, the 12 branches of activities contributed positively to the data.
Artistic activities with 31% and commerce with 21% were the branches with the greatest dynamism between October and December 2021.
