Polling stations throughout Colombia opened at approximately 8:00 am. The candidates Hernández and Fajardo exercised their right to vote early in the morning. In most of the regions of the neighboring country, they report a normal opening of the voting centers.

Some 102,152 polling stations are set up in 12,263 positions throughout the country by the National Registry of Colombia so that more than 39 million people are scheduled to close at 4:00 pm.
The director of the Colombian National Police, General Jorge Luis Vargas, reported that more than 800 troops in Bogotá alone accompanied the delivery of electoral material, indicating that more than 94,000 uniformed personnel are protecting the electoral process on Sunday, May 29.

President Iván Duque exercised his right to vote by safeguarding the premise of the secret ballot in the first round and commented that when there are elections of this type, an “orderly transition” is made so that “in peace and institutional tranquility” power is ceded.
From Plaza Bolívar, Duque expressed his wish that the day passes in peace with the joy of voting and believes that the “democracy plan” will be fulfilled. He stressed that people go to the polls “without hatred and without bias.”

For his part, the registrar Alexander Vega indicated that there are more than 500 observers in the presidential election process in Colombia, while several parties expressed concern about the lack of an international audit in the elections.
According to the Registry, before 8:00 pm in Colombia there will be a consolidated result to find out if there is an elected president or if there will be a need for a second round between the two most voted, on June 19, and if so , who will pass to that instance.
In the case of Colombians who live in Venezuela and want to participate, the authorities of the neighboring country confirmed that it will be possible to cross the border, but only those people who are registered to participate in the elections will be allowed to cross.
“They have already clarified us and told us that all Colombians, duly registered in the electoral centers, will have access through the bridge this Sunday,” emphasized Migración Colombia.
