Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero affirmed this Tuesday that “they open Great possibilities for Argentine companies” in Bangladesh from the trade mission in the Asian country, the eighth most populous in the world, and said that this will mean “more work” for Argentina.
“They were very productive days due to the opportunity that the almost 20 companies that accompanied us on this trade mission had, and all of them have done very well,” Cafiero said in statements made to Télam Radio.
In this regard, he stressed that the firms had almost 300 meetings in two days and that, as a result, “many possibilities and even agreements arose.”
“Mass consumption products, the flavors of Argentina, seek to conquer the gondolas of Bangladesh,” said the official, and emphasized: “That is work, exports and allows us to strengthen a link very relevant”.
Likewise, Cafiero pointed out that, although Bangladesh is “the eighth most populous country in the world, and, of course, like all, they have their difficulties, it is also true that they have been growing in their economy and in the last 10 years they have doubled their GDP per capita”.
“With this, great possibilities open up for Argentine companies here, above all because the seal, the flag, the country brand of Argentina here (in Bangladesh) has an extremely important prestige“, stressed the chancellor.
For this, he maintained that “important and responsible work has to come.”
Opportunities
“Argentina you have to take advantage of these opportunities in a responsible and professional way, truly articulating work with all segments”, pointed out the head of Palacio San Martín.
In this sense, he highlighted the work between the Foreign Ministry and the embassies to make themselves available to any national businessman or entrepreneur who wants to address an export mechanism.
“We need exports to grow in our country because we need to order our macroeconomythis is what the President (Alberto Fernández) and the Minister of Economy (Sergio Massa) constantly ask us to do,” concluded Cafiero.
Trade mission
Cafiero arrived in the city of Dhaka on Monday together with 20 Argentine businessmen to lead a trade mission in search of greater exports in a market of 170 million inhabitants.
The firms present on the tour are Marolio, Ecofactory, Vetanco, Lipotech, Luna de los Andes Sabias Semillas, Letis, Santo Pipó, Instituto Nacional de la Yerba Mate (INYM), The Halal Catering Argentina HCB, Havanna, Arcor, Baltazar-Alfa Pampa, Suplefeed, Ronaldb, Club Atlético River Plate and Cargill.
According to data from the Foreign Ministry, bilateral trade with Bangladesh was US$ 765 million in 2022.
Argentine exports reached US$742.9 million and imports from that country totaled US$22.1 million, thus registering a trade surplus for Argentina of US$720.8 million.
