CNE Director highlights support for government renewable energy producers

The Executive Director of the National Energy Commission (CNE), Edward Veras Diaz, highlighted on Wednesday the support provided by the government of President Luis Abinader to the different sectors involved in the production of renewable energy at the national level.

Edward Veras said that Abinader has taken a series of measures in favor of those who produce clean energy, due to its commitment to guarantee that there is a healthier and healthier environment in the country.

You see, when offering statements to the media prior to the inauguration of the “V Sustainable Energy Forum”, he indicated that the president is promoting the energy transition because he is aware that the effects of climate change must be reduced.

The official said that, thanks to the government’s actions, more and more companies and institutions are participating in the production and commercialization of sustainable energy.

He recalled that on September 27, President Abinader issued decree number 608-21, which allows renewable energy producers, with definitive concessions included in the registry of the special regime, to have the right to receive from distribution companies or other agents of the wholesale electricity market, payment for the sale of the energy produced.

Veras affirmed that they comply with international conventions, such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol, where the country undertakes to carry out a series of actions for the production of renewable energies, which reduce emissions. of greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming of the planet.

He assured that, by virtue of the policy developed by the current government to promote the development of renewable energy sources, the country is able to meet the goal of guaranteeing 25% of the national demand with renewable energy by 2025. He indicated that at present the sector covers 10% of the national energy demand.

V Sustainable Energy Forum

During this Wednesday and tomorrow, Thursday, public and private institutions participate in the fifth edition of the Sustainable Energy Forum, an activity in which the main officials of the national electricity sector participate.

Among the institutions participating in the forum are: the National Energy Commission (CNE), the Dominican Electricity Transmission Company (ETED), the Electricity Superintendency (SIE), the Eastern Electricity Distribution Company (EDE-Este), the Southern Electricity Distribution Company (EDE-Sur), the Dominican Institute for Quality (Indocal) and the Cometa Group, among other institutions.

The following topics will be developed in the activity: “Transmission Expansion Plan Against Penetration of Renewable Energies and Consideration in System Operation, by Robert and Máximo Cepeda, from ETED; Compliance and Perspective of the Energy Transition, whose responsible is Yeulis Rivas, from the CNE and Quality for Energy Efficiency, presented by Lorenzo Ramírez, from Indocal.

The words of welcome were in charge of the journalist Zonia Tejada, who stressed that energy is a good of all and that it is the responsibility of all sectors to ensure that its use is done correctly.
