Mexicali, BC., The demand for torture presented by Mario Aburto Martínez, convicted of the murder of Luis Donaldo Colocio Murrieta, should be investigated as a complaint by the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) and not be part of a file in the Prosecutor’s Office General of the Republic (FGR), considered the litigant Marco Antonio Macklis Mercado.
Macklis Mercado is one of the two lawyers who participated in Mario Aburto’s preliminary statement on the night of March 23, 1994, the day Colosio Murrieta, then PRI candidate for the Presidency, was assassinated during a campaign tour.
In an interview, before joining the FGR delegation, he explained that in 1994 torture had not been classified as a crime, so the CNDH must investigate a complaint and not integrate a file for the alleged crime of torture for which Mario Aburto complained.
Last Wednesday the lawyer Xavier Carvajal appeared as a witness, within the investigation folder that integrates the agent of the Public Ministry, Guadalupe Rascón.
