CNDH recommends giving adequate medical attention to criminal inmates in Michoacán

The National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) addressed a recommendation to the commissioner of the Decentralized Administrative Body for Prevention and Social Rehabilitation of the SSPC Secretariat, José Ángel Ávila Pérez, for violating the human right to health protection of 31 inmates of the Center Federal Social Readaptation number 17 in Michoacán. In recommendation 49/2022, the agency documented that the inmates’ requests for medical care and specialized medications are not isolated events, and that they continue to be victims of the lack of timely access to medical services, which has repercussions on their state of health. Health. Likewise, it confirmed that the prison lacks sufficient medical personnel in general medicine, psychology and psychiatry, among others.
