This Sunday the CNDH issued a statement in which, due to past events that occurred half a century ago, it ruled for reforming the INE, which it considered to have “the same history” as the Federal Electoral Commission (CFE) that was controlled by the government in the 70s.
Although recommendation 46/2022 issued in April proposed to Congress to make changes for a body “autonomous from any power, constituted or factual, legal or supralegal, that ensures the transparency of the electoral process and the effective counting of votes”, in a manifesto published on On Sunday, he accused the INE of promoting the “sabotage of the will of the people” and carrying out a “dirty war.”
That unleashed reactions in the political class and hardened the position of the INE.
“Silent in the face of the femicides, the massacres, the forced displacement of thousands of families and now we know that it exists because it hits the #INE,” criticized the leader of the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD), Jesús Zambrano.
“What a shameful role of the @CNDH in acting as a puppet of the Presidency to hit @INEMexico. Silent in the face of the femicides, the massacres, the forced displacement of thousands of families and now we know that it exists because it hits the #INE ”, she expressed on social networks.

On Twitter, the electoral advisor Ciro Murayama showed: “The @CNDH is so lost that it attacks @INEMexico based on a recommendation that analyzes events that occurred between 1951 and 1965! That is, when the IFE (1990) was not born, and even less so the INE (2014). He attacks democratic institutions for acts of others. That bad.”
In addition, it showed that without investigating or presenting evidence, the CNDH accused the INE. “Without analyzing a single act or decision of @INEMexico, the @CNDH accuses it of ‘sabotage’ of the popular will. It is a nonsense of accusation: without analysis, without evidence. Pure political slogan. Also illegal: the Constitution prohibits the CNDH from getting involved in electoral issues.”
