In his homily this Sunday, Monsignor Sergio Gualberti, archbishop of Santa Cruz, made a call for unity to Bolivians, to join efforts in defense of life and stop the spread of Covid-19, which are accompanied by pain, suffering and death.
Gualberti pointed out that, in this fight against the pandemic, the Church asks the authorities to give an example and witness of wisdom, caring for the life and well-being of all citizens.
“The authorities have the responsibility to set a good example and testify to sanity and wisdom, caring for life, promoting and well-being of all citizens and avoiding everything that can cause confusion, bewilderment and division”, said the Archbishop of Santa Cruz.
Gualberti also referred to the current that promotes the rejection of vaccination and security measures against Covid 19. He asked not to promote movements that oppose vaccination, because they are the only means that are within our reach to protect life.
“This is not the time to distance yourself from this common goal, even less to join or promote movements that oppose the vaccination campaign and security and health measures, because they are the only means within our reach to protect life, “said the Monsignor.
Gualberti concluded his message with a mention of the words of Pope Francis: “Ethically, I think everyone should get vaccinated. It is an ethical option because you risk your health and life, but you also risk the lives of others”.
