(EFE).- The Government of China delivered this Friday to Cuba a donation of 100,000 dollars to support the repair of the damage caused by an explosion in the hotel Saratoga from Havana.
“This aid is an expression of the friendship that unites both peoples and governments in the common effort to build socialism,” said the Chinese ambassador in the Cuban capital, Ma Hui, citing a report by the state agency Prensa Latina.
On May 6, an explosion, attributed to a gas leak that occurred when a tanker truck was transferring liquefied gas to a hotel tank, destroyed most of the emblematic tourist accommodation located on the central Prado Avenue, in the historic center of La Havana.

The Chinese diplomat expressed “admiration” for the work carried out in rescuing the victims of the catastrophe at the tourist accommodation center.
At the donation ceremony, the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (Mincex), Déborah Rivas, considered it an “important and timely” aid.
He also recalled the resources sent by China to the island to face the covid-19 pandemic, such as shipments of more than 100 tons of pulmonary ventilators, oxygen concentrators, medical supplies, medicines, means of protection, antigen kits and rice.
The deputy minister of the Mincex and the ambassador of the Asian nation also signed a certificate of acceptance of a Chinese donation of 5,000 photovoltaic solar systems and 25,000 LED tubes, destined for homes located in areas with difficult access to electricity service.
