Beijing, Jan 30 (Prensa Latina) China today appointed athletes Zhao Dan and Gao Tingyu as the flag bearers of its delegation to the Beijing-2022 Winter Olympics, which will open on January 4 with representatives from 91 countries.
Zhao, 19, practices the skeleton (simple sled) and is seen as one of the possible medalists of the upcoming event thanks to the good results achieved in national and international competitions since 2020.
Meanwhile, Gao is 24 years old, he is a speed skater and at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Games he won bronze in the men’s 500 meters, becoming the first Chinese to win a medal in that discipline.
The Asian giant’s delegation to Beijing-2022 is made up of 387 people and 176 of them are athletes.
On the other hand, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) revealed the measures that will govern to protect the integrity of the event, prevent and respond to any possible manipulation of the competitions.
Those responsible for ensuring the provisions will work 24 hours a day from Lausanne, Switzerland, while the games are in session, and include members of world organizations and private entities.
The IOC will be in permanent contact with them, will intervene in the event of infractions and has also established a telephone line to collect any complaints.
