chili Not only does it have one of the great potentials for the development of renewable energies in the world, but it is one of the countries where this industry is more advanced, which entails a series of solutions and formulas to be able to carry out the extension of this unlimited resource.
This is why the Chilean entrepreneurship was born Suncast, which is present in chili and Mexico, and that applies artificial intelligence to renewable energies completely remotely. Currently, it has two services: Generation Prediction and Predictive Maintenance.
The first is applied to solar and wind energy sources through high-accuracy models to predict generation with an accuracy of more than 60% than with other systems, and with up to 10 days in advance. These use the latest technology from Machine learning, consider meteorological conditions and historical generation.
On the other hand, Predictive Maintenance consists of optimization models that indicate the optimal moment to clean and maintain photovoltaic panels and wind farms, a process that considers up to 40% of production costs.
This and other models of technological innovation allowed Suncast be awarded the National Innovation Award AVONNI 2021, developed by the Fundación Foro Innovación, organized by The Mercury and National Television of Chile; and from this year, with the participation of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation.
“Suncast provides a platform in which the customer can see the calculation of economic losses as a result of dirt levels, and obtain recommendations to know the optimal time to perform cleaning, achieving savings of up to 50% in resources and costs” assures Constance Levicán, CEO of Suncast and director of Climatech, the association of startups focused on the technological solution of environmental problems.
And the Chilean startup founded in 2017, has achieved various awards and international interest. In fact, with more than 20 business meetings with companies and governments from much of the world, the startup has come from the EXPO Dubai 2020, which he attended as part of the trade mission convened by ProChile.
During your visit to Dubai, Levicán held meetings with representatives of the energy sector of Oman, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, who were interested in the Predictive Maintenance solution offered Suncast, because the humidity of the desert in the Middle East, generates more soiling than in other parts of the world, making it more critical due to the scarcity of water they face.
In addition, the founder received the AVONNI Award 2021 in the Corfo Innovative Woman category, recognizing female participation as the force that is reshaping society from an innovative perspective.
Among other recognitions, Suncast was one of the 40 technology startups selected worldwide, and the first and only Latin American to participate in the Industry Growth Forum NREL 2021 in the U.S. The startup also represented Chile in the World Youth Forum of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) at the APEC World Summit for women founders of tech startups. Suncast also participated in the Pitch Session Deeptech Soft Landing Week in Germany, where he won first place.
