Crossfire on the opposition. Chile Vamos -grouped in the Chile Seguro pact- denounced the publication of false news that would be being shared by militants of the Republican Party, in view of the election of the Constitutional Council on May 7.
It is a controversial image that contains a comparative table with supposed positions of the pact that brings together the Independent Democratic Union (UDI), National Renewal (RN) and Evópoli. It is argued that Chile Seguro would be available to “study case by case the pardon of criminals” and in favor of regularizing all migrants and an open border policy.
Before the publication, the conglomerate came out to deny these positions and some officials attributed the authorship of the sheet to the followers of José Antonio Kast.
“The election on May 7 will define a large part of the content of the constitutional text that Chile will have for the coming decades. It is time to be especially responsible and not aspire to generate confrontations or misrepresentations based on false information,” Chile Seguro declared, through of a public statement.
The pact clarifies that he firmly believes that the future of Chile must be one where people have certainty, stability and security. For this reason, “we believe in secure borders and immigration policies with administrative expulsions for those who do not comply with the law,” they add.
And they specify: “We believe in a Constitution that guarantees the right to public security, ending the policy of pardons that President Boric erroneously used at the end of last year.”
Finally, they assure that they are in favor of strengthening the police and procedural and prison reforms “that put the victim at the center, with guaranteed legal defense.”
“We invite all the pacts to have a high-sighted, honest and constructive dialogue. Withholding an electoral gain can never be an excuse to use lies on social networks. We urge all parties and political forces to have a clean campaign “, they concluded from Chile Seguro.
The Secretary General of RN, Diego Schalper, shared Chile Seguro’s statement, noting the following: “This election is very important for the next generations. It is not the time for conflicts, lies and opportunism. It is the time to build majorities that provide stability to Chile, defending the freedoms, security and dignity of the people”.
From the UDI, meanwhile, senator Iván Moreira criticized that “one thing is that the Republican Party has decided to go its own way and divide the right, which will have serious results in the election of councillors, but the other that has no name is the dirty campaign, full of lies, trying to install falsehoods in public opinion and make us appear as an inconsistent party”.
“Anything goes to position a party or candidacies? We believe not and we will work very hard for the success of the process, with a willingness to dialogue and without lies. We are sure that it is what you need,” added the union leader, Javier Macaya .
It is worth mentioning that the controversial box was shared by the former UDI minister Isabel Plá, who pointed directly to the ultra-right group. “This spread by Republicans is false. What happened, José Antonio Kast, with speaking ‘with the truth’?” Plá lashed out on Twitter.

The Republicans have not officially referred to the issue, but, according to Cooperative, they would rule out that the campaign was born from their sector. “There is no evidence,” they say.
