Dead friar lions club carries out 2 important programs
While the institution’s library, together with the municipal government, is inviting for the launch of the book “Ruralism to the touch” of Carlos Duera, it is known that the Dead Fraile Lions Club continues with the different charity works.
He also carries out the reading in action in action since 2013 and Leones Educating since 2018.
“Leones Educating is a program that has been developing in Uruguay years ago- from 2008- and in our club we begin to boost since 2018” confirmed Noel Iribarne to The daily professional.
“At this time it is being carried out in 4 schools in our area” He added. “In the specific case of the dead friar, it responds to parents who sent us their concern about the issue of values, of Buylling, of substance consumption, which is affecting youth in general, not in our particular environment, but it is a problem that afflicts many families in Uruguay and the world. From there, we seek within the leonism what was there to work on that subject and we find this program that develops in this In different ages, not only in childhood, but that in our country is carried out in schools ” The member of the Dead Fraile Lions Club pointed out.
This program aims to strengthen children’s social skills, teaching them to say not to what they do not want to participate and to know themselves. “The Dead Fraile Lions Club is the link with the Foundation of Leones del Uruguay and with the National Program of Leones Educating. A material arrives so that each child has a booklet in which they develop tasks. The teacher is responsible, we have nothing to do with the educational thing” accurate.
Teachers are duly trained to carry out these activities that are developed from initial to sixth year. “The whole school is involved. It is very interesting” Iribarne said.
More than 5,000 books in the library
Reading in action On the other hand, it has been underway since 2013 and seeks to encourage reading. “We took it because here it was a need to have a place where people would find reading material for pleasure.” said.
“We have more than 5000 titles” revealed. “We open every Friday, between 4 pm and 8 pm to receive people of all ages. We make families partners for a monthly fee of $ 70. We have the newest and also work on request” highlighted.
On the financing of the two programs
In the case of Leones educating, the cost of the didactic material that is delivered to the children is high. “We have 398 children who are going to participate this year in the program so that for our club it is an important disruption” Noel Iribarne pointed out.
“Our club also buys orthopedic material, wheel chairs. Last year we acquired a fairly valuable electric wheelchair for a person who needed it” commented.
“Our donations of orthopedic material, our donations of crystals for lenses and specifically lions educating is not easy” assured. “We have a raffle that is made annually from the entire Leonism of Uruguay that in a few days we will begin to offer it. From there we have a high percentage and the other part goes to our Uruguayan Foundation of help. In addition, we have food sale. For example, on May 1 we have what we have called Traveling Lamb” advancement.
“In the case of the library, we finance it with the fee paid by the partners” said. “We are not very strict with that because our purpose is that people read” He stressed.
Presentation of a book
“Next Thursday 24, Carlos Duera, a young man from here, will present a book” Noel Iribarne confirmed.
“This is his second work called Ruralism at the top” reported. “We are waiting for you all, the entrance is free. It will be from the 19th hour. We wait for all the people who are linked to the rural environment to come and know the great investigation that Carlos has done,” The member of the Dead Fraile Lions Club closed.
