On Sunday, October 30, a great concert by the Aragón, Manolito Simonet y su Trabuco, and Enrique Álvarez y su Charanga Latina orchestras will take place at the Salón Rosado de la Tropical, starting at 6:00 pm.
“The Charanguera Union was conceived to bring together the orchestras that defend this traditional format, taking into account their origins, also those to whom life led them to evolve musically, by desire or by the need of time,” he declared at a conference in press the Camagüeyan violinist Enrique Álvarez, creator of the event together with his son Lázaro.
“We have dedicated a lot of time and many hours to materialize this dream, which this time will be held in a meeting format, but which we aspire to make it a festival in all its dimensions; a festival that unites, that contributes, that is not exclusive, in which the essence is the music and the musician, the dancing public, the Cuban, Cuba and our identity”, he added.
The Union Charanguera Encounter emphasizes the importance of the charanga format within Cuban musical history and its evolution. Iconic genres of traditional music have been performed with charangas.
Sponsored and promoted by ARTEX, this first edition will be accompanied by the 1st. Unión Charanguera Symposium, on Friday, October 28, in the Juan Formell room, of the El Sauce Cultural Center, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
There will also be a theoretical event, a platform to discuss the concept of charanga and its various ramifications in the Cuban cultural context, and about its main creators and current projections.
