Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp today placed Real Madrid as the favorite in the Champions League final between the two teams, which will be played tomorrow at the Stade de France.
“I don’t know if there is a clear favourite. If you look at the history, the rival’s experience and the way Real Madrid celebrates comebacks, I would say that Real Madrid are favourites, but I want us to be at the same level”, he expressed.
“I want us to be ourselves in the game. If we are at our best level, it is not easy to play us. That’s my only concern right now. Real Madrid’s confidence level is really high,” Klopp said.
The German coach avoids the word ‘revenge’ when he is told about the Champions League final lost by the Reds against the Merengue team in 2018 in kyiv, 3-1, in which Mohamed Salah was injured in the first half and his goalkeeper Loris Karius made two big mistakes.
“Circumstances hit us. We couldn’t react. We arrived on three wheels. We didn’t have a full bench. Our goalkeeper had a concussion and that was proven later. You have to learn to win and no one can wait for this. I had to learn it the hard way. I have lost many finals in my life and fortunately in some of the last ones I won. The problem now is facing a team that has never lost a final,” he said.
