Chamber approved readjustment of 6.1% to the public sector that includes covid bonus for health workers

This Tuesday, the Chamber of Deputies approved the nominal readjustment of 6.1% for public sector workers, which already had the support of the unions and the Central Unitaria de Trabajadores (CUT).

According to information from Biobío, The Finance Commission had to resolve the issue of the covid bonus for health officials, which is precisely one of the nodes that the Executive’s project presents.

It was as a result of this that a group of opposition deputies presented a proposal in the room, which sought to modify article 76 of the text to include this benefit of recognition for the health emergency, and which was approved with 97 votes in favor and 23 abstentions of the ruling party.

In this regard, the deputy of the PC Daniel Núñez said that “we are happy and happy that the indication that we present to deliver the covid bonus to health workers, has been approved by a large majority, and what corresponds now is to call on the Senate to ratify what has been achieved in the Chamber of Deputies, and that the Government once and for all understand that it cannot take away such an important benefit. “

However, according to Biobío, Both the ruling party and the opposition are aware that only the Executive has the power to deliver bonuses, so the approval of this indication is more of a pressure measure.

On the other hand, the deputy Leopoldo Pérez (RN) presented a constitutionality reservation, arguing that the benefit leaves out other public officials: “It is a constitutionality reservation regarding an indication to deliver a bond beyond what is established in the readjustment law only public health personnel, leaving out other public officials who were also in the fight against the pandemic, such as personnel from the Civil Registry or transport personnel. “

On the other hand, the former president of the Labor Commission, Tucapel Jiménez (PPD) that Congress must support the dialogue that the Public Sector Table and the CUT had with the Government, and hopes that the Senate will ratify the proposal.

The project, in addition to the nominal readjustment of 6.1%, establishes a vacation bonus, one for the term of negotiation and a series of bonuses for National Holidays, schooling and Christmas.
