President Alberto Fernández “constructed the decision to participate” in the Summit of the Americaswhich will take place between the 6th and 10th of this month in the US city of Los Angeles, “in dialogue with the presidents of CELAC (the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) and, especially, with his counterpart from Mexico, Manuel López Obrador,” spokeswoman Gabriela Cerruti reported Thursday.
“In that summit the President goes to theraise the position of CELAC and Latin America about what the world situation is, how the war in Ukraine affects and how a united Latin America without exclusions has to be,” Cerruti said at his usual press conference on Thursdays at the Government House.
Secondly, The spokeswoman said that “the possibility never existed” of holding a meeting parallel to the Summit of the Americas with the member countries of CELAC.
“At that summit, the President is going to take the position of CELAC and Latin America on what the world situation is, how the war in Ukraine affects and how a united Latin America without exclusions should be”Gabriela Ceruti
This Wednesday “the President received a call from (his US counterpart Joe) Biden, with whom had a deep conversation in what may be in 25 minutes, and by telephone, in which they spoke about all the topics that are being discussed at the moment, and that have to do with food security, with the crisis caused by the war, and with the need for peace”.
Cerruti added that in this context, “Biden invited him to have a deeper conversation and in the first instance they spoke of July 25, in Washington.”
On the other hand, the spokeswoman recalled that Fernández “was also invited to participate in the G-7 summit” as “a consequence of the trip he made to Europe, and that it is the product of the position that is the same as that raised by Pope Francis.” in the sense that “unfortunately, the world is using wheat as a weapon”.
In this context, Cerruti stressed that “in terms of food security, Argentina has a lot to say.”
