SANTO DOMINGO – The Indotel Cultural Digital Center of the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) commemorated “International Women’s Day” with a special tribute to Anita Ontiveros, a woman producer, editor, cameraman and television director, with a long career in the television world that left its mark on more than a generation of filmmakers and technicians of the Dominican audiovisual world.
The tribute was led by the President of the Board of Directors of the Indotel Nelson Arroyo, by the members of the Council Priamo Rafael Ramírez, Fausto Rosario Adames.
“Ontiveros is one of the protagonists of the history of Dominican television, a woman who emerges among those who paved the way for many others who today participate in the audiovisual world, contributing her talent with equal opportunities in a communication space that it was considered for a long time as only for men” affirmed Mr. Nelson Arroyo in the main speech of the act.
She stressed that Ontiveros is a great example of a woman who has positively impacted our society in which generations of girls and young people should see and emulate.
During the activity, a panel was held with different Dominican personalities such as Elías Muñoz, producer and director, communicator, and Miguel Cohn from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as other producers, filmmakers, editors, television directors, and camera operators from around the world. of television and took place this Thursday, March 10, in the auditorium of the Digital Culture Center, located on Isabel La Católica street in the Colonial City.

Ana María Ontiveros Herrero was born on September 23, 1947 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
She arrived in the country in 1967, as a dancer with her husband Horacio Lamadrid, then became involved in television production and became the first female camera director in the Dominican Republic, standing out for her creativity, quality and wonderful content. , at a time when this work was carried out by men.
She was a pioneer in the production of programs aimed at girls and boys, in which the large audience of “La casa de Pequitas” stands out, a program that was broadcast by Color Vision in 1971, and was producer of the programs of the late Yaqui Núñez of the Risco.
