Inspection and search carried out this Saturday (28) by the State Department of Penitentiary Administration (Seap) and the Public Ministry of the State of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ) at the Joaquim Ferreira de Souza Public Prison, in the Gericinó Complex, west of the state. Rio, resulted in the seizure of 17 cell phones, four routers, two pen drives and four televisions with network access WiFiin addition to the amount of R$ 12,307.
The information was released this Sunday (29) by Seap, through its press office. The operation was possible thanks to the joint work carried out by the intelligence bodies of the institutions involved (Seap’s Intelligence and Operational and Internal Affairs Departments and the MPRJ’s Security and Intelligence Coordination). The work was accompanied by Seap’s internal affairs officer, Roseli Félix.
At the request of the MPRJ, the seized material was sent to the Police Station for Repression of Organized Criminal Actions and Special Investigations (Draco), in the City of Police, for registration of the occurrence and subsequent judicial investigation.
The secretary of Penitentiary Administration, Maria Rosa Lo Duca Nebel, highlighted that “the operation was the first of the current management with full interaction of the intelligence centers (CSI and Sispen) and in an unprecedented way with the participation of Seap’s internal affairs department”.
The secretary stated that the action complies with Governor Cláudio Castro’s determination to put an end to irregularities in the penitentiary system. She added that new actions are being planned.
