Catholic Church celebrates the feast of the Virgin of Candelaria

The Catholic Church celebrates Feast of the Virgin of Candelaria, as usual every February 2, which coincides with the “festival of lights”, which is the presentation of the Lord and the ritual purification of the Virgin Mary.

The celebration was advanced with a procession of candles in Spain, amid the conviction that the Virgin appeared in 1392 to two aborigines, who they saw a small wooden image of a woman, about a meter high, who had in one hand a candle with the flame lit and in the other, was carrying a baby.

Since then, the Day of the Virgin of Candelaria It became more relevant until it was recognized in 2014 by UNESCO, which declared the festival of the Virgen de la Candelaria as Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

However, not only Spain commemorates this date, but also countries like Argentina, Bolivia, Cuba, Chile, Spain, Mexico and Paraguay, among others.

Currently, thousands of devotees make petitions to the Virgen de la Candelaria in order to obtain some grace or miracle.
