Casañas Levi asks the commune to anticipate illegal collection of paid parking

Lawyer José Casañas Levi told Ñanduti AM radio that the Municipality of Asunción should work with the National Police in order to avoid “illegal” charging by third parties with the application of Fee Parking.

The Municipality of Asunción plans to implement paid parking starting in February. The objective was to implement it in September but it was not achieved. The project will be operated by the Parxin Consortium and the estimated cost will be from G. 3,500 to G. 4,000 per hour, while people who own vehicles with patents from the capital will pay only half with an hour free of charge in the morning and another one in the afternoon.

“The most common problem to date is that the issue of informal compulsive collectors could never be resolved,” he said.

He considers that the cost of the Pay Parking is “reasonable” compared to other closed parking lots.

“The question would be if the Police is in a position to enforce it and that there are no third parties that additionally charge, I don’t know how that strategy is designed. You have to know if the Municipality is in agreement with the Police to explain how, where and what they would have to do because or else this system will fail ”, she concluded.
