For this Monday, March 6, the restart of the indefinite strike is scheduled in different parts of the Cusco region, especially in the provinces of Espinar and Canchis, in the latter place, protesters had blocked the entrance to the so-called ‘Puente Arturo’, which connects the Imperial Region with Puno and later Arequipa.
However, dozens of carriers and residents, with the help of the Police, They managed to unblock this nerve center of communication, restoring the passage of vehicles in its entirety.
The aforementioned place remained blocked for almost 20 days last month, causing a strong shortage of products, as well as gas and gasoline, coming from the department of Arequipa, which is why the population would have opposed a new blockade.
With front loaders and mechanical shovels, the road was partially reopened early in the morning, and it was fully open by 10:00 a.m. At the moment the sector is heavily monitored by the Police, further blockade attempts are not ruled out.
Meanwhile, there are still other blockades in the Combapata Bridge, also in Canchis, in the town of Tinta, Checacupe, San Pedro and in the province of Espinarwhere the residents demand that the Antapaccay mining company stop all its operations, otherwise they threaten to enter their camp again to perpetrate acts of vandalism.
