Carlos Prosperi, Acción Democrática candidate for the primary elections of the Venezuelan opposition, condemned the recently revealed corruption plot in the country, in which senior officials, mayors and judges from different branches of public powers would be implicated, according to information shared by the same prosecutor Tarek William Saab and other authorities of the madurista administration.

“Hopefully this episode is not another red rag from the government of Nicolás Maduro and becomes the true starting point for a sustained fight against corruption,” said the opposition leader during a visit he made to the El Valle parish in Caracas. .

Likewise, Prosperi demanded from the competent authorities an expeditious and transparent judicial process to sanction those linked to these alleged cases of corruption, who in his opinion take advantage of their high positions to steal billions of dollars from the public treasury for their own benefit.

“We categorically reject corruption wherever it comes from and during my government I will be implacable with this scourge (…) I will not allow the team that accompanies me in my government to have immunity to loot the nation’s coffers,” warned the still candidate for the internal vote of the Unitary Platform, in which on October 22 it is expected to elect the sole opposition candidate who will represent the democratic coalitions in the 2024 presidential elections.
