A woman associated with the criminal organization founded by Carlos Enrique Gómez Rodríguez (El Conejo) was arrested at the passenger terminal in Maracay (Aragua), according to police sources.
The procedure was carried out by agents assigned to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations of the Bolivarian National Police, who registered the detainee as Ariana Josefina Sánchez Coronado, nicknamed La Beba.
This woman had a well-defined function in the Rabbit gang: she was in charge of moving firearms and explosive devices from one place to another for the different operations of the criminal organization.
La Beba was preparing to travel to Colombia along the trails that surround San Antonio del Táchira, as she confessed to the officials who arrested her. In the next few hours, she will be presented before the 24th Court of Control in Caracas from where she had been issued an arrest warrant for the alleged commission of the crimes of terrorism and criminal association.
The Rabbit gang had its operations center in the municipality of San Michelena (Las Tejerías), Aragua, where it planned extortion and kidnappings against merchants in the region. But later, the group was contacted by Colombian drug cartels interested in having allies in Venezuela for the design of safe routes for drug trafficking, according to investigations.
That is why El Conejo gave Carlos Revette (el Koki) shelter when he was expelled from Cota 905 through Operation Gran Cacique Guaicaipuro I, deployed in July 2021 in the southwest of Caracas. El Koki and his criminal organization were also contacted by Colombian groups for the opening of a drug trafficking route that would start at Cota 905, pass through the high Mirandinos (Los Teques, San Antonio), enter Las Tejerías and extend towards Carabobo and Guárico, among other central entities.
These plans were frustrated last February when the security agencies confronted the Rabbit gang and Koki himself, who was killed in the mountains of Las Tejerías. That event occurred on February 8 specifically and since that day El Conejo has been a fugitive. Specialized sources commented that from the Tocorón prison they provide him with protection.
