Congresswoman Lady Camones, President of the Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations, pronounced on the next steps to be followed in the process of constitutional complaint against Peter Castle. This took place after this Friday approve the report that accuses him of treason and that recommends its disqualification for a period of five years.
This complaint, which arises as a result of the statements given by the president during an interview in which he indicated that he would put to popular election the possibility of ceding territory to Bolivia, It was approved this Friday with 11 votes in favor and 10 votes against; however, he has a series of questions regarding the seriousness of the infractions committed by the president.
Given this, the legislator defended the decision of her work team. “An intention has been demonstrated, that is what the delegate congressman has valued, the intention of wanting to cede part of our national territory when that cannot be given”he specified for Canal N.
Likewise, the parliamentarian referred to the vote she cast on this occasion despite requests from the president’s lawyers to abstain.
“I only vote now in the subcommittee and in the Permanent Commission. There could have been a tie and I would have had to decide, in those circumstances I did vote. Where I am no longer going to vote is in the plenary session, ”she clarified.
Lady Camones does not believe that votes for disqualification will be reached
On the other hand, the president of the SAC was not very optimistic about the possibility of disqualifying the president through the constitutional complaint process.
“Getting the votes (the 66 for disqualification) is a bit complicated, since the sum of the benches and political forces would not give, I think, that amount,” he asserted.
However, he specified that there is an option with greater possibilities. “The other extreme would be the preliminary trial so that the Prosecutor’s Office can be allowed to accuse before the Judicial PowerFor that, a simple majority is needed, which in this case would be half plus one, 50 votes, which could happen”, concluded Camones.
