These are the primary elections that CD will carry out next Sunday, July 9, a tournament in which a total of 306,549 members of the collective are empowered to exercise the right to vote and choose, in addition to the presidential standard-bearer, the official candidates for the mayor’s office, representatives of corregimientos and deputies for the National Assembly (AN).
At a press conference, Ovigildo Herrera, president of the National Commission for Primary Elections (CNEP) of CD, said that everything is ready for the development of these elections, which the CNEP has coordinated and organized with the Electoral Tribunal (TE), entity that will finance the political process, and will implement the Unofficial Transmission of Results (TER) mechanism, to obtain preliminary information about the voting process, which will begin at 7:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m.
Herrera explained that a total of 1,068 polling stations have been set up in 755 voting centers in different parts of the country for this process in which, in addition to the presidential candidate, 15 mayoral candidates, 160 representative candidates and 4 deputy candidates will be chosen. . Of the 306,549 adherents authorized to vote, there are 150,051 women and 108,302 men.
“Once again we are going to a democratic party, to choose our electoral offer for the 2024 general elections. This process is one of the most important in the country, therefore, as a Commission (CNEP), with responsibility and transparency, we have coordinated and taken the forecasts so that these primary elections can be carried out in the best way in an environment of civility”, said the president of the Commission.
As fundamental pillars of democracy, Herrera urged the membership to go to the tables to cast their vote, which, he said, Cambio Democrático strengthens as the main opposition party, and reaffirms its political and social role in the country.
It should be noted that on March 19, the members of the CD went to the polls to choose the Sector Secretary for Women, the Secretary for Youth, conventional members and members of the Board of Directors of Corregimientos.
