In an interview with Radio Panama, the spokesman for former President Ricardo Martinelli, Luis Eduardo Camacho, referred to the ruling that was given on the morning of Tuesday, July 18, where former President Ricardo Martinelli was sentenced to 128 months in prison and a fine of 19 million 221 $1,600 in the New Business case.
For Camacho this is a legal outburst and that Martinelli will be a presidential candidate for the May 2024 elections, he also said that in the next few hours a pronouncement will be made to the country on the actions to follow, both political and legal.
The ruling also orders the confiscation in favor of the State of the shares of the company Editora Panamá América SA, the Administration and its facilities (Property or Furniture and Real Estate).
“They want to turn this legitimate private transaction into a non-existent crime, this is a political ruling,” Camacho said.
