The Governor of Santa Cruz Luis Fernando Camacho traveled to the border municipality of Puerto Quijarro to hold a series of meetings with the authorities of the Germán Busch province and take a tour of Laguna Cáceres (Puerto Suárez) and Puerto Jennefer (Puerto Quijarro).
On the occasion, Camacho expressed his concern about the state of the lagoon, which is completely disabled, as well as the Tamengo Canal and Puerto Jennefer, which have been affected by the drought and climate change. In this sense, he considers that efforts should be combined to strengthen these areas, which are the only outlets to the Atlantic.
There are many needs that have been evidenced, such as the lack of access roads, electricity and other basic services, for which the governor met with representatives of the private sector of the province.
Fire Department will train volunteers
Camacho also indicated that the instructors of the Governor’s Fire Department have been sent to the municipalities of the Germán Busch province so that they carry out training for the different units of volunteer firefighters and the population in general, so they can be ready for any forest fire emergency.
The Government advances in the drilling of wells
Regarding the drilling of wells, he said that at the moment, the Government has three machines for the drilling of wells, which allows the work to proceed more quickly in order to guarantee that the water reach all corners of the department.
“The drilling of water wells is a policy that we have implemented from the first day of management, and until the end of the management we have the commitment that the entire department has water and electricity, since these are the main needs that the communities have”, stressed the governor.
Join efforts to move Puerto Busch forward
The meeting was also conducive to building common strength between authorities, private institutions and residents to form a block that allows reflecting the unity of the department and carrying out this project, which dates back many years and is the only one that provides an outlet to the Atlantic.Visit to the Laguna Cáceres area. / Photo: Government of Santa Cruz
In Brazil
Similarly, Camacho met with the mayor of Corumbá and the governor of Mato Grosso do Sul to seek solutions to various issues that allow improving and promoting commercial and tourist exchange between the two regions, and which have been affected by different factors.
“We have to work together so that our regions, Corumbá, Ladario, Puerto Quijarro and Puerto Suárez, grow and develop together and coordinated”, said the mayor of Corumbá, Marcelo Iunes, noting that Bolivians are great consumers of Brazilian products.
This Thursday, Camacho will have a meeting with the governor of Mato Grosso do Sul, Reinaldo Azambuja, in Campo Grande, to discuss productive issues between the department of Santa Cruz and Mato Grosso do Sul.
The delegation participating in the meeting in Campo Grande is made up of the departmental secretaries Fernando Menacho (Sustainable Development), Jhonny Rojas (Environment), the mayor of Puerto Suárez, Mauricio Montero, among other regional authorities.
