“We have not closed ourselves off and we are willing to dialogue,” said the governor of Santa Cruz, Luis Fernando Camacho, regarding the position assumed by the Interinstitutional Committee for the Promotion of the Census. He did it during his speech at the Honorary Session of the Departmental Legislative Assembly.

The request expressed by Camacho calls for a technical dialogue to determine the date for carrying out the Population and Housing Census, “but let’s face it, they don’t want to listen to us“.

He praised the “impeccable technical” work carried out by the inter-institutional commission headed by the rector of the Autonomous University Gabriel René Moreno and demanded an open debate to define the dates on which it would be possible to carry out the census.

“Centralism politically and not technically maintains” the date of the census for 2024 despite requests from the region.

For this reason, Camacho invited the population to “maintain unity, which is our greatest strength” and invited the population “to participate in the town hall in freedom and unity.”

The governor dedicated an important part of his speech to exposing the work carried out by the Government to prevent and combat forest fires that affect the department. He alluded to the investment made, the provision of equipment and the decentralization of emergency teams for prompt intervention.

Tas a review of the conquests achieved thanks to the civic struggles “that benefit all of Bolivia”, challenged “those treacherous and servile authorities to centralism”. He did not allude to any particular person, but he did insist on his position of disagreement with the traitors.

“We Cruceños have already become experts in recognizing these treacherous authorities and sanctioning them civilly and politically. We did it in the past and we do it now,” he said.
